Doctor in Sex Case Sued by State Medical Board

The Medical Board of California filed suit Wednesday seeking to revoke the license of a Brentwood physician while he awaits trial on charges that he sexually assaulted at least four female patients.
Dr. Yahya Joe Lavi was arrested in July for allegedly raping or molesting four women who had been referred to him for examinations related to Worker’s Compensation benefits, said Deputy Atty. Gen. Nancy Ann Stoner.
The 52-year-old orthopedist “has sexually abused four of his patients, and he has falsely represented his qualifications in medical reports,” said the lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
Lavi could not be reached for comment.
The doctor has other offices in Los Angeles, Long Beach, Covina, Pasadena, Panorama City and Lancaster. The alleged sexual assaults occurred at offices in Panorama City and Los Angeles, authorities said.
