OXNARD : Budget Head Takes Mono County Post
Oxnard Management and Budget Director Bill Mayer announced his resignation Friday to become head administrative officer for Mono County in Northern California.
Mayer will leave Oxnard on Oct. 19 to replace Glenn Thompson, who recently resigned to become the city manager of Mammoth Lakes.
Mayer, 46, has worked in Oxnard for 8 1/2 years. He has more than 20 years of experience in government, including working for county governments in San Diego, Ventura and Los Angeles counties.
Mayer earns about $67,000 a year plus benefits in Oxnard, but he declined to discuss his new salary, saying his contract has not been approved by Mono County officials.
Although the new position is expected to pay less, Mayer said he accepted the position as a career advancement. He said he will enjoy living in the rural setting.
