PRO FOOTBALL REPORT / WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAMS : Cox Knee Injury Could Shake Up Line

Share

Backup offensive tackle Robert Cox twisted his knee during practice Thursday, but Coach John Robinson said it probably wasn’t a serious injury.

“When he went down and rolled over, I thought ‘this guy is gone,’ ” Robinson said. “(But he) went from deathbed to recovery fast.”

Cox was reported to be walking in the locker room after practice, and the early prognosis was that there was no ligament damage.

If Cox can’t play Sunday night against the Bears in Chicago, starting right guard Duval Love would become the backup tackle, and if Love is forced to move, No. 1 draft choice Bern Brostek would start at right guard.

Robinson said inside linebacker Larry Kelm, who has been on injured reserve since hurting his knee in the Rams’ last exhibition game, will definitely not play Sunday. Kelm should be ready for the game against the Atlanta Falcons on Oct. 21 at Anaheim Stadium.
