Pistons Beat Clippers in Opener, 110-95
was only the first exhibition game, but the Detroit Pistons showed the balance Friday night that has won them back-to-back NBA championships in a 110-95 victory over the Clippers.
Isiah Thomas and William Bedford each had 18 points, Joe Dumars 17, Mark Aguirre 15 and rookie Lance Blanks 14 for the Pistons, who led after three quarters, 96-74.
Charles Smith had 19 points to lead the Clippers, who shot 39.3% from the field. Rookie Bo Kimble came off the bench to score eight points on three-of-12 shooting. Kimble played 16 minutes in his NBA debut before 10,306 fans.
Benoit Benjamin scored 12 points and had 10 rebounds.
