BETTING WITH JANICE : THE REMATCH
Sunday turned out to be rather a successful day, even more successful than you might think. My mythical Sunday bet was a $25 place parlay from Dorky in the third to Eratone in the fifth and $50 to win on Dorky. But through a computer clocker error the bet was listed as $50 to win on Eratone. Dorky won, Eratone finished third. An editors’ board of inquiry ruled that I would be credited with the win and the computer clocker was given two days off to get a more attentive diode. By the way, the computer wasn’t SURELOCK; he is an honorable computer.
Janice’s Sunday bankroll: $1,649
Sunday’s Profit: $475
Current bankroll: $2,124
SURELOCK took a much tougher hit when his $200 win bet and $120 in exacta bets involving Reluctant Guest failed in the eighth when the horse finished third.
SURELOCK’s Sunday bankroll: $1,080
Sunday’s loss: $320
Current bankroll: $760
Note: Janice Goldinger, a horse owner, does not bet on races her horses run in. SURELOCK does not own horses.
Both players started with a $2,000 bankroll.
