2 Men, Boy Are Wounded in Shootings in 3 Cities

Three people, including a 16-year-old boy, were wounded Monday night in separate shootings in the county, police said.

Rafel Martinez, 30, of Santa Ana was shot in the chest after an argument with two men in a Santa Ana bar, police said. He was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange after the 7:13 p.m. incident in the parking lot of the Bristol Inn at 1232 S. Bristol St. His condition was not immediately available.

Police said Martinez and the two men began arguing in the bar, then went to the parking lot, where one of the men pulled a pistol and shot Martinez.

In Fullerton, a 16-year-old boy was wounded by two suspected gang members who drove up alongside the victim, shouted gang slogans and fired a number of shots at him.

That shooting occurred at about 8 p.m. as the unidentified juvenile was walking in the 500 block of South Highland Avenue in Fullerton.

The victim was listed in stable condition after surgery at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.

A third shooting occurred about 10:30 p.m. outside a convenience store on Brookhurst Street in Garden Grove when two men became embroiled in an argument. One of them pulled a pistol and fired up to five shots, striking the other man in the arm, police said.

The victim, who was not identified, was reported in stable condition at Humana Hospital-Westminster.
