Santa Paula 51, Nordhoff 27--Ben Fausset threw for two touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Santa Paula to the homecoming victory. The Cardinals (5-2, 2-0) scored on their first two possessions as Fausset connected with Art Marcelo from 34 yards, and then ran it in from 15 yards. Fausset completed seven of 20 for 104 yards.
Brandon Garnsey countered with two touchdowns for Nordhoff (3-4, 0-1) to cut the lead to 14-13 late in the first quarter.
After Santa Paula recovered an onside kick, Dustin Magdaleno (153 yards in 18 carries) scored on a 44-yard run to give the Cardinals a 21-13 lead.
With one second left in the first half, Steve Dysart kicked a school-record 50-yard field goal to give Santa Paula a 30-13 lead at halftime.
Eddie Rabago of Santa Paula rushed for one touchdown and recovered a fumble in the end zone for another score.
