Jordan Ranch Plan Defended

Share

In the 11 years that I have been involved in animal welfare issues and environmental issues, the Jordan Ranch proposal is the first development plan I have encountered that offers real, effective and meaningful contributions to the natural environment, and which has researched that environment thoroughly to understand how to best preserve and restore it. The proof of commitment is visible and tangible, too; there are currently thousands of native oak seedlings being grown and an experimental native plant nursery where the promise of environmental preservation and restoration is already being put into practice.

It is indeed unfortunate that a handful of people toting “environmentalist” labels would try to oppose such a project, when at this time the National Park Service is being given the only opportunity it has ever had to acquire so much open space in this region through the Jordan Ranch project.

We need to look at the larger picture; we need to look at the greater good.
