Poly’s Torres Goes 6 for 6 in Interceptions

Poly High senior safety Raul Torres had one interception in the Parrots’ 22-7 victory over Canoga Park last week, giving him six in six games. Torres and Oak Park’s Damian Delfino are tied for the lead among Valley-area City Section players.

Offense: Westlake has scored on its initial drive in all seven of its games. . . . Crespi junior Cody Smith has thrown one interception in 137 attempts.

Although Van Nuys suffered a 35-0 whipping by Sylmar last week, the statistics suggest a much different game. Van Nuys, which was averaging 153.7 yards a game before Friday, outgained Sylmar, 280 yards to 213. The Wolves, however, committed five turnovers.

Kicking: Royal’s Steve Prchal has converted all 24 of his point-after attempts this season. He is two of four in field-goal attempts. . . . Santa Paula junior Steve Dysart set a school record with his 50-yard field goal in the Cardinals’ 51-27 win over Nordhoff. It was his first field-goal attempt of the season.
