Holieway Gets His Coaching Job Back
Jamelle Holieway, the former University of Oklahoma quarterback accused of using cocaine during a federal trial in Oklahoma City last week, Thursday was reinstated a week after being fired as a walk-on assistant football coach at Long Beach City College.
Holieway was released the day after his former roommate Charles Thompson testified that the two used cocaine together while playing for the Sooners. Holieway, a star at Banning High in Wilmington, was a member of the Oklahoma team from 1984 to 1988.
Holieway said he received a letter from Long Beach officials saying the firing had nothing to do with Thompson’s allegations.
Long Beach officials could not be reached Thursday night.
