A 20-year-old woman was fatally shot and three others wounded at a Point Loma nightclub when two disgruntled patrons fired into the club, trying to shoot security guards who had thrown them out earlier, police said.
Tanya Shaw, a native of Buffalo, N.Y., and a data processor stationed at the San Diego Naval Training Center, died at UC San Diego Medical Center about 10 a.m. Sunday. She has been shot twice at Rasputin’s Night Club at 4230 Point Loma Blvd., said Lt. Dan Berglund of the homicide division. One of the bullets from a .41-caliber pistol struck Shaw in the head, he said.
Jerome Wood, 21, a petty officer 2nd class also stationed at the Naval Training Center, suffered a minor wound in the neck, Berglund said. Wood was treated at UC San Diego Medical Center and released.
The other two victims, whose names were not released, suffered minor injuries, Berglund said.
Police arrested Patrick Daniel Wallace, 24, at an apartment in the 4500 block of Bancroft Street Sunday morning, Berglund said. Homicide detectives were still looking Monday for Willie J. Pitts in connection with the shooting, he said.
The shooting occurred about 2:25 a.m. Sunday when two men drove up to the back door of the nightclub and fired several shots through a plate-glass window, striking four patrons who were dancing, Berglund said. Security guards told police that the men had been ejected from the club twice that night for creating disturbances and were looking for revenge, he said.
