COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Moorpark Defeats Cypress, 25-18, in Wrestling
Moorpark College won five of 10 weight divisions en route to a 25-18 victory over Cypress in a nonconference wrestling match Wednesday at Moorpark.
Moorpark’s Robby Cook and Pete Lutz scored convincing wins in the 142- and 167-pound divisions. Cook defeated Brett Holmes, 13-5, and Lutz beat Leon Hayes, 12-3.
Delfino Ochoa (126), Neal Mason (158) and Phil Guerrero (177) also recorded victories for Moorpark (7-3). Dave Gallegos of Moorpark and Richard Allen tied, 5-5, in the 134-pound class.
The Raiders, 3-0 in the Western State Conference, will compete in the Lassen tournament in Reno, Nev., on Saturday.
WATER POLO
Pomona-Pitzer 14, Occidental 9--Denis Noonan scored five goals for Occidental (5-16, 1-4) in an SCIAC match at Pomona.
