THE SIDELINES : Walter Camp Finalists Named

Raghib Ismail of Notre Dame, Eric Bieniemy of Colorado and Ty Detmer of Brigham Young lead the list of seven finalists for the Walter Camp trophy as the nation’s best college football player.

Bieniemy leads the country in rushing and scoring, Ismail has helped Notre Dame to the No. 1 ranking with his running, receiving and returning and Detmer, a junior quarterback, has led BYU to the eighth spot in the polls.

Other finalists are quarterbacks Shawn Moore of Virginia, Craig Erickson of Miami, Fla., and David Klingler of Houston and running back Greg Lewis of Washington.
