Share

Torrey Pines received the No. 2 seeding and will host Arroyo Grande High of the Southern Section in the opening round of the 1990 CIF/Reebok Girls’ State Volleyball Championships, Tuesday. The Falcons (29-2), who have the most victories of anyone in the eight-team Division I (large school) draw, defeated Helix (31-1) for the San Diego Section 3-A championship, last week. Arroyo Grande is 18-0.

Poway (22-5), the second San Diego Section representative in the Division I bracket, will open up at fourth-seeded (Pacific) Palisades (17-2) of the Los Angeles City Section. Because of a mixup in Sunday’s selection process, pairings for the Division II and III tournaments will be redrawn and announced today. Four other San Diego County teams will receive berths: USDHS (21-2) and La Jolla (20-9) in Division II, and Francis Parker (21-2) and Christian (24-4) in Division III.

All first-round games will be played at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday at the home site of the seeded team.
