The owner of a restaurant was bound and gagged Sunday as a gunman robbed the restaurant’s safe, taking cash and personal jewelry, police said.

The owner of the Primavera Ristorante was about to leave at 12:45 p.m. after putting up holiday decorations when a man approached him asking about a job, police said. The man then drew a small caliber handgun from a bag he was carrying, forced the owner to the restaurant’s safe and ordered him to open it, police said.

The gunman then led the owner to an adjacent room where he bound and gagged the owner, police said. After taking an unspecified amount of cash from the safe, the robber returned to the owner and removed his jewelry, police said.
