PRO FOOTBALL REPORT : WEEKDAY UPDATE : RAIDERS : Schroeder to Start Against Broncos
Coach Art Shell confirmed Friday that Jay Schroeder will start at quarterback Sunday at Denver.
Schroeder, who sprained his left knee in last week’s 27-24 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, said he is ready to play.
Shell said he would wait until today to decide whether to activate quarterback Steve Beuerlein for the first time this season.
Although the Broncos have lost four consecutive games, their longest losing streak since 1972 and the longest losing streak by a Dan Reeves-coached team, quarterback John Elway said Denver isn’t giving up.
“We’re not quitting yet,” Elway said. “We’re going to hang in there and keep going. That’s all we can say.”
