Bernard King, stopped cold by the Detroit Pistons last week, scored 26 points Saturday night at Landover, Md., to lead the Washington Bullets to a 94-83 victory over the NBA champions.

In ending the Pistons’ 10-game winning streak, the Bullets won for only the fifth time in 15 games. They held the Pistons to a season-low 83 points.

The Pistons, in several games on their streak, had to come from behind. Friday night they trailed Philadelphia by 15 points with 15 minutes to play and won.

This appeared to be a repeat. The Bullets led by 10 at halftime and opened the lead to 76-55 late in the third quarter. The Pistons started their usual run, a 14-2 burst.

But, with the lead only 80-72, King made a jumper and set up Haywoode Workman for two more and the Bullets were back in command.

Portland 130, Seattle 124--In the first two overtimes at Seattle, the Trail Blazers had to come from behind to survive and go on to the next extra period.

But in the third overtime, the Trail Blazers broke a 122-122 tie with two minutes left and went on to improve the best record in the league to 13-1. Clyde Drexler made four free throws in the last 20 seconds of the third overtime for Portland.

Philadelphia 116, Boston 110--Charles Barkley took his anger out on the Celtics at Boston. Barkley, ejected for throwing an elbow Friday night against the Pistons, had 37 points and 13 rebounds.

Hersey Hawkins added 24 points and the 76ers ended the Celtics’ eight-game winning streak.

New York 113, Charlotte 96--One night after playing one of his worst games, Patrick Ewing returned home to play one of his best.

The 7-foot center had 50 points and 15 rebounds and the Knicks easily ended their five-game losing streak. At Milwaukee Friday, Ewing scored only 12 points in 41 minutes.

Chicago 120, Cleveland 85--The Cavaliers were no match for the “new” Michael Jordan at Richfield, Ohio. Jordan had 13 of his 32 points in the first quarter, giving him 48 in the first quarter in the last three games.

San Antonio 109, Dallas 97--David Robinson had 23 points and 12 rebounds, while playing only 34 minutes at San Antonio.

Golden State 137, Miami 111--Chris Mullin had a perfect shooting night at Miami, making his 11 shots and all five free throws.

Mullin took only one shot in the second half after helping the Warriors to 74 points in the first half.

Houston 117, Sacramento 93--Kenny Smith scored 10 of his 23 points in the third quarter at Houston to help break the game open. The Kings have lost six in a row and are 1-13.
