Passenger, 17, Killed in Sylmar Car Crash
A 17-year-old Sylmar youth was killed Saturday when a car he was riding in hit the center divider of Truman Avenue at San Fernando Road in Sylmar, then careened into a wall, Los Angeles police said.
Jose Ignacio Diaz was riding in the back seat of the car when the crash occurred at 12:30 a.m., Sgt. John Amott said.
Another passenger, who was not identified, suffered moderate injuries, but was released after being treated at Holy Cross Medical Center, he said.
The driver of the vehicle, who reportedly had a bloodied face, and another passenger apparently fled the scene after the crash, Amott said.
