THE SIDELINES : Seattle Swaps Taylor for Hood
The Seattle Mariners, who didn’t make a deal at baseball’s winter meetings in Chicago last week, have made a trade.
They announced today they acquired minor-league outfielder Dennis Hood in a trade with Atlanta for minor-league pitcher Scott Taylor. Both players are 24.
Hood hit .247 with eight home runs and 36 RBI in 121 at Triple A Richmond last season. He led all International League outfielders in putouts (294) and total chances (311). He is a cousin of Willie McGee of the San Francisco Giants.
Taylor pitched last season at Class A San Bernardino, where he posted an 8-8 record with a 5.41 ERA in 34 games, 21 as a starter. He was picked by Seattle in the 15th round of the 1988 June draft.
