Drake Sends USIU to 5th Straight Loss
Guard Wayne Embry led six Drake players in double figures as the Bulldogs pulled ahead with 14 unanswered points in the first half Saturday night and went on to defeat U.S. International, 99-72.
USIU’s Kevin Bradshaw, who entered the game as the nation’s No. 2 scorer, led all players with 33 points, but was 12 of 31 from the field and committed seven turnovers.
The Gulls (1-9) dropped their fifth in a row. Drake (3-4) broke a three-game losing streak.
USIU held an 18-17 lead with 9:35 left in the first half when Mark Prylow and Chris Jones led a Drake assault to give the Bulldogs a 31-18 advantage with 6:45 left. Prylow and Jones each had four in the scoring spree.
Embry wound up with 17 points and Calvin Tillis added 16, with Mark Raveling, Prylow and Jones each scoring 11 and Shane Murphy getting 10.
