Salisbury to Play at Oregon

Brett Salisbury, a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback who was a first team All-America selection at Palomar Junior College, has signed a letter-of-intent to play at Oregon.

A second community college player from the San Diego area, wide receiver Derrick Deadwiler, has also signed a letter to play for the Ducks.

Salisbury is expected to battle for the starting quarterback spot left vacant by the graduation of Bill Musgrave.

Salisbury, brother of former Southern Cal quarterback Sean Salisbury, set two national junior college records this year with 288 completions for the seasons and eight touchdown passes in one game.

The 5-foot-9 Deadwiler also was a track standout at San Diego Mesa College, where he was clocked at 10.66 seconds in the 100 meters.

“Their presence should make it a very interesting spring practice,” Oregon coach Rich Brooks said.
