Pitchers Lance McCullers of Detroit, John Cerutti of Toronto, Jeff Musselman of the New York Mets and Pat Clements of San Diego were among 13 players who became free agents today when their teams did not offer them contracts for 1991.

Under the collective bargaining agreement between the players union and the 26 clubs, all players on 40-man rosters must be offered contracts by Dec. 20. Those who are not automatically become free agents who may sign with any team without any restrictions.

Among the new free agents is pitcher Terry Wells, who had little success during a short stint in the Dodgers’ starting rotation last season.
