Takin On The Cash Leads Los Al Field
The 2-year-old colt Takin On The Cash, a winner of $316,964 in his career and a leading contender for 1990 national championship honors, will lead a field of 10 in Saturday night’s $334,000 Golden State Futurity at Los Alamitos.
The 400-yard Golden State Futurity is the richest race held during the winter quarter-horse season at Los Alamitos.
Takin On The Cash could virtually lock up the 1990 national champion title for 2-year-old colts with a victory in Saturday’s race. A son of Dash For Cash, Takin On The Cash comes into the race after previous victories this year in the Grade I Bay Meadows Futurity, the Grade I Kindergarten and the Grade I Dash For Cash Futurity.
Takin On The Cash was the first horse to ever sweep those three races, and in his time trial for Saturday’s race the colt smashed the Los Alamitos 400-yard track record of 19.53 seconds with a wind-aided, 19.34-second victory.
Rounding out the field will be Kid O Dash, Blisterin, Susie’s Girl Sally, Galla Go Special, Illawardyall, Jack’s Dash, Vital Sign, Resolutions and Shawne’s Diamond.
