From Times Staff and Wire Reports

The state Supreme Court turned down an appeal from a Hayward woman convicted of murdering her husband and dumping his body under their house, where it lay for 7 1/2 years. Police said Faye Ann McCabe continued to live in the home with her two children for the entire period, and discussed her role in the crime with several friends, who refused to believe her. After another friend told police that McCabe had admitted the murder, they found the remains of James Flores in the crawl space under the house in June, 1984. McCabe denied the murder and testified that her husband, who had disappeared in December, 1976, may have been the victim of a contract killing. She was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
