HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL : Grossmont Presses On, Wins

Grossmont (14-6, 4-1) defeated El Cajon Valley, 74-58, in a Grossmont 2-A boys’ basketball game at El Cajon.

Grossmont trailed, 31-27, at halftime but came back in the second half with a full-court zone press. El Cajon committed four turnovers in the first minute and a half of the third quarter. Grossmont converted all four into baskets and went on to outscore El Cajon, 23-10, in the quarter.

Jared Larson led Grossmont with a game-high 19 points, including five three-pointers, and 11 rebounds.

Girls basketball

Palomar League

Poway 60, Orange Glen 38--Kara Berg, a 6-foot-2 senior, scored 11 to lead top-ranked Poway, which improved to 18-1, 10-0. Orange Glen dropped to 4-12. The Titans play Tuesday at third-ranked Mt. Carmel, which is 8-1 in league.

Avocado League

Ramona 40, El Camino 32--Kisha Riggs led Ramona (2-15, 1-9) with a game-high 16 points. El Camino dropped to 2-11, 2-8.
