COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Durity’s 17 Points Lead Fullerton Women Past Orange Coast

Nicki Durity scored 17 points and had nine rebounds as Fullerton College defeated Orange Coast, 60-42, in an Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game Friday at Fullerton.

Christa Ramirez had 12 points and seven rebounds for Fullerton (20-6, 6-3 in conference). Erika Manning scored 12 for Orange Coast (12-15, 2-6).

In other conference games:

Golden West 87, Rancho Santiago 45--Allison Bickel scored 23 points and had 11 rebounds as visiting Golden West (27-1, 9-0) won its 18th in a row. Jennifer Harney had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Golden West. Marianne Karp had 19 points and seven assists for Rancho Santiago (8-17, 1-8).

Riverside 87, Saddleback 63--Kristen Okura scored 23 points, had 15 rebounds, five assists and five steals for host Saddleback (16-8, 4-5). Riverside is 20-6, 7-1.

In the Cerritos-Fullerton baseball tournament:

Fullerton 6, El Camino 5--Fullerton (1-0) led, 6-2, going into the ninth, but El Camino scored three runs to make it close at Fullerton in the opener for both teams. Chris Johnson pitched six innings, walking three and striking out six for Fullerton. Tom Wilson got the final out for his first save. Dave Moore went two for four with a solo home run in fourth inning.

In the Rancho Santiago Tournament:

Rancho Santiago 11, Oxnard 10 (8 innings, darkness)--Jeff White scored on Rob Reimers’ single in the seventh to cap a five-run seventh for host Rancho Santiago (1-0). Sean Ramos had a solo home run in the inning as well.

In the Fresno Tournament:

Golden West 4, Merced 2--Jeff Henderson (1-0) had 11 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings for Golden West (2-0), which had eight hits.

Golden West 10, Santa Rosa 2--Derek Ogle (1-0) pitched a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Golden West. Marty Osborne had four hits and three RBIs and Gerad Cawhorn had two hits and three RBIs as well and Rob Walker had three hits.

In the College of the Desert Tournament:

Desert 9, Cypress 7--Doug McConathy had three hits including two doubles for Cypress (0-1).
