3rd Day of Rain Pelts Northern California
Rain fell in Northern California for the third straight day Monday, and forecasters reported that another system should follow by Thursday.
Rain spread as far south as San Jose and Stockton, with more than an inch reported in some mountain areas.
Thunderstorms and heavy downpours were reported around the Bay Area Monday night, with enough rain to cause some minor flooding of streets and small streams, the National Weather Service said.
San Francisco International Airport reported more than half an inch of rain by late afternoon. Crescent City received 0.7 inch., Redding 0.38, Kentfield 0.15 and San Jose 0.03.
The snow level was between 6,000 and 7,000 feet, and a snow advisory was issued for the Sierra Nevada north of Yosemite.
The subtropical storm that brought the gusty winds and rain to the San Francisco area is expected to blow away today with clear skies by the afternoon.
“This is not a major storm,” said Wilfred Pi, a meteorologist with the Weather Service.
