CS Long Beach Women Beat Hawaii, 73-63

Dana Wilkerson scored 18 points and Cal State Long Beach won its ninth consecutive game and remained tied for the Big West Conference women’s basketball lead with a 73-63 victory over Hawaii Wednesday night at Long Beach.

However, Long Beach Coach Joan Bonvicini wasn’t happy with the effort.

“We weren’t focused,” Bonvicini said. “No one on the team had a good game. . . . We just played well enough to win.”

The 49ers (17-7 overall, 12-3 in the conference) took command with an 18-3 surge which gave them a 34-20 lead with 2:47 left in the first half.

Jenny Kaeo scored 15 points for Hawaii (12-12, 6-10).
