HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL REGIONAL GIRLS’ PLAYOFFS : Palos Verdes Bounces St. Bernard, 75-52

Another playoff game, another blowout for the Palos Verdes High basketball team.

It was business as usual Thursday night as the Sea Kings continued their march to the State final in Oakland by trampling St. Bernard, 75-52, in the semifinals of the Southern California Division III playoffs at Palos Verdes.

The Sea Kings (30-2), whose average margin of victory in six postseason games is 39 points, will play in their third regional final in four years at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Sports Arena against Lompoc (23-3), a 65-58 semifinal winner over Santana High of Santee.

Morningside 51, Chino 44--Behind 12 points from Tyesha Whiting and 10 apiece from center Janet Davis and guard Tina Thompson, the Monarchs beat visiting Chino in a Division I game at Morningside.

The Monarchs (31-2) advance to Saturday afternoon’s Southern Regional championship game, where they will play Clovis West (27-2).

Morro Bay 54, San Diego Lincoln 43--Sara Pierce scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Pirates to a Division IV win at Morro Bay.

The Pirates (26-3) will play Los Padres League rival Santa Maria St. Joseph for the Southern Regional title at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Cal State Dominguez Hills.
