READ ALL ABOUT IT: It’s expensive to live here, there’s a drought on, the government has budget problems, but one area where the county excels is as a setting for novels. The Publishers Weekly listing of the top 30 fiction bestsellers of 1990 has three that are set in Orange County. At the top is “Dazzle,” by Judith Krantz, ranked No. 11. One notch back is “The Bad Place,” by Dean R. Koontz. And in 22nd place is Joseph Wambaugh’s “The Golden Orange.” Krantz never lived here, and Wambaugh moved out last year, leaving Koontz the only county resident. . . . He lives in Newport Beach.
