5 Die in Chicago Apartment Blaze
A smoky fire in a West Side apartment building killed five people--a woman, her three young daughters and a man, authorities said Friday.
The fire broke out late Thursday in or near a couch, and fire and police officials initially blamed careless smoking for it. They later said faulty electrical wiring may be to blame because a number of wires were running under the couch.
There were no visible burns on the bodies of Lovie Larry, 45; her 3-year-old twin daughters, Jamika and Janika; her 15-month-old daughter, Jamelle, and Richard Hill, 48, authorities said.
