Senior Larry Johnson of Nevada Las Vegas was named winner of the Eastman Award as college basketball’s player of the year.
The senior forward, who is the leading scorer and rebounder for the unbeaten Rebels, also was named player of the year by the Sporting News. Kentucky’s Rick Pitino was named coach of the year by the Sporting News.
