Shame on The Times!!!! No room for poetry reviews??? Or don’t poetry reviews sell newspapers?
Glancing through the Real Estate section each Sunday one is shocked to see that “Hot Property” (photographs of Hollywood celebrities, already advertised and given free press far more than I care to be bored by) continues on a weekly (weakly?) basis . . . and what is their contribution to “culture”? (One hesitates to spell it with a capital C for fear of crass commerciality, the very subject of our criticism!)
If the Los Angeles Times is a reflection of its diverse and exciting pockets of culture, there is a deficit in The Times’ culture budget.
How about reviewing poetry in the Food section? After all, poetry really is soul food . . . JILL SWIFT, TARZANA
