BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT
The Atlanta Braves acquired outfielder Otis Nixon from the Montreal Expos and placed shortstop Andres Thomas on unconditional waivers.
Nixon, 32, stole 50 bases in 231 at-bats last season. He batted .251 with one home run and 20 RBIs in 119 games.
To get Nixon and minor league third baseman Boi Rodriguez from the Expos, the Braves gave up catcher Jimmy Kremers and a player to be named.
Thomas lost his battle with free agent Rafael Belliard and Jeff Blauser for the shortstop job. Belliard signed as a free agent during the winter.
