A California Highway Patrol officer was injured Tuesday morning when his patrol car was broadsided in a Valencia intersection, authorities said.

Officer Jorge Martinez, 29, was driving westbound on Lyons Avenue near Wiley Canyon Road about 9:30 a.m. when a northbound car ran a red light and slammed into his car, CHP Officer A.J. Torres said.

Martinez, a seven-year CHP veteran, suffered a concussion and was admitted to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital. His condition was not released. The other driver, Boyd Stevens, 24, of Saugus was treated for neck pain at the hospital and released.
