COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Sisco Extends Hitting Streak, but Titans Defeated by Pepperdine in Baseball, 3-2

Steve Sisco extended his hitting streak to 17 games, but seventh-ranked Pepperdine defeated Cal State Fullerton, 3-2, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday at Malibu.

Pepperdine (23-5-1) scored three runs in the fourth inning.

Sisco had a two-run single in the fifth inning, and Frank Herman had two hits and scored for Fullerton (17-15).

In other nonconference baseball:

Cal State Dominguez Hills 8, Southern California College 3--Keith Laszlo had two hits, including a double, and a run batted in and John Mounce had two hits for host SCC (19-13). Darrell Conner hit a bases-empty home run in the third inning and Steve Whipple hit a two-run home run in the sixth for Dominguez Hills (14-12-1).

Christ College Irvine 4, UC San Diego 1--Mike Adams had two hits, an RBI and a run for Christ College Irvine (17-9-1). Gary Sussman (6-2) scattered nine hits, did not allow an earned run, struck out eight and walked none for the victory. Ernie Isola had three hits for UC San Diego (9-15).

In nonconference men’s volleyball:

UC Irvine 3, La Verne 0--Jeff Uhrig had 17 kills for Irvine (4-11), which defeated host La Verne (3-9), 15-1, 16-14, 15-5.

In Big West Conference women’s tennis:

Cal State Fullerton 5, Cal State Long Beach 1--Wendy Seltzer won, 2-6, 6-3, 7-5, and Kelli Moore won, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, for Fullerton (11-11, 4-5) at Long Beach.

In nonconference softball:

Christ College Irvine 3-6, UC San Diego 8-4--De Brunk had three hits and four RBIs in the doubleheader and Lisa Merenda (8-7) pitched a complete game to earn the victory in the second game for host Christ College Irvine (17-13).
