HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Darkness Enables Chatsworth to Tie

Share

The Chatsworth High baseball team is delighted that daylight savings doesn’t begin until next week.

The Chancellors, trailing, 13-11, in the bottom of the eighth inning with one out Thursday against Granada Hills, were granted a reprieve when the umpire called the game because of darkness. The decision wiped out Granada Hills’ two runs in the top of the inning and made the final score of the Northwest Valley Conference game, 11-11.

“It was one of the weirdest games I’ve been associated with,” Chatsworth Coach Tom Meusborn said.

With Chatsworth leading, 11-10, and two out in the top of the seventh, Granada Hills’ Robert Fowble homered to tie the score and force extra innings.
