Titans Make Best Softball Pitch for Standouts Longeway, Dolan
Two of Orange County’s best high school softball players have signed letters of intent with Cal State Fullerton, Titan Coach Judi Garman said Wednesday.
Kennedy’s Cheryl Longeway, a left-hander who is considered one of the nation’s best pitchers, and Fountain Valley infielder Shannon Dolan, a versatile player on defense and a solid hitter, will join the Titans in the fall.
Longeway and Dolan, both of whom have appeared regularly on all-county teams, played on the Orange County Batbusters summer team that won the 16-and-under age-group national championships in 1987, ’88 and ’89.
“She’s a dandy,” Garman said of Longeway. “We’ve recruited her as an impact pitcher.”
Dolan can play every field position, including catcher.
“We like her because of her versatility, and she’s a clutch hitter,” Garman said.
