Their Crime: They Don’t Spend Money
* I see that the Huntington Beach police and City Council are in the process of running skateboarders out of the city (“Skateboarders Show Up to Speak Against Proposed Ban,” April 2).
The major “crime” of skateboarders is that they are mostly kids who don’t spend much money in the city’s businesses. Given how many people are already being run out of town by downtown redevelopment and freakish applications of the loitering laws in the pier area, it won’t be long until the City Council and the Chamber of Commerce are all that are left. Come to think of it, they’d probably like that.
