Sports Briefs : 49ers to Hold Spring Football Scrimmage
Quarterback Todd Studer and wide receiver Mark Seay, who were standouts on last season’s Cal State Long Beach football team, will display their talents at 1 p.m. Saturday when the 49ers hold an intrasquad scrimmage on the campus practice field.
The 49ers are completing their first spring practice under Coach Willie Brown. Brown succeeded George Allen, who died Dec. 31.
There will be a barbecue following the scrimmage. Cost is $3.
National Water Polo Event May 3-5 at CSULB
The top 12 teams in the country will compete in the U.S. Water Polo Men’s Outdoor Nationals May 3-5 at Cal State Long Beach.
Harvard Water Polo of Los Angeles will be trying for its fourth consecutive title. Harvard is led by goalie Craig Wilson, a 1984 and ’88 Olympian who was the most valuable player of the last three national tournaments.
Among the other teams in the tournament will be Beach of Long Beach and Sunset of San Diego.
