COLLEGE SOFTBALL ROUNDUP : Allen, Northridge Earn Split With Sacramento in Softball
Cal State Northridge traded 1-0 victories with host Cal State Sacramento in a softball doubleheader on Saturday.
The Matadors, ranked 16th in NCAA Division I, won the first game, 1-0, on a five-hitter by Cami Allen (12-13). Patti Pearson singled to right field to score Danielle Wood from second base in the eighth inning for the game’s only run. Wood was aboard on a single and was sacrificed to second.
In the second game, Sacramento (25-28) pushed across the winning run in the 10th inning on Angela Laolagi’s single to center that scored Cary Gessell from second. Gessell reached base on a single and was sacrificed to second.
Heather Lindstrom (15-9) allowed six hits in the second game for the Matadors (33-28).
Cal Lutheran 1-7, Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 2-0--Brenda Frajford’s three-run home run highlighted a five-run third inning for Cal Lutheran (30-8) in the second game of a nonleague doubleheader at Cal Lutheran. Leslie Stevens (18-4) pitched a seven-hitter in the second game.
