The Indianapolis Speedway medical staff, satisfied that A.J. Foyt can make the necessary movements in a race car with his still-aching feet and legs, approved the four-time winner to begin practice for the Indianapolis 500. Foyt, 56, recuperating from the most serious injuries of his racing career, passed the mandatory physical but will have to undergo periodic re-exams before the May 26 race, said Dr. Henry Bock, the Speedway medical director.
