Ex-Pro Football Player Pleads Guilty to Burglary
Former pro football running back Stanley Wilson, who was banned from the NFL for drug abuse, pleaded guilty this week to residential burglary.
The 29-year-old Banning High School alumnus and ex-Cincinnati Bengals star entered the plea Thursday as his trial was about to begin in Long Beach Superior Court. His possible sentence ranges from three years’ probation to a six-year state prison term. He is free on $10,000 bail. Deputy Dist. Atty. H. Thomas Holmes said he is tentatively planning to seek a two-year prison sentence for Wilson, a first-time offender.
Wilson broke into a home on East 5th Street in Long Beach last December and stole jewelry and clothes, allegedly to support his rock cocaine habit, authorities said.
