Motorist Is Wounded in Drive-By Shooting

A motorist was severely wounded when he was shot in the ear by gunmen in a passing car in what may be a gang-related shooting, authorities said Monday.

The victim, Christopher Fountain, 25, of Los Angeles, was driving south on Santa Fe Avenue in Lynwood when he was shot Sunday afternoon, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Deputy George Ducoulombier said.

Witnesses told detectives that two men in their 20s opened fire on the victim from a car that had drawn up to his vehicle near Banning Avenue. The gunmen were believed to have been driving a four-door Ford LTD. Fountain, whose car crashed into a chain-link fence after he was shot, remained in critical condition Monday at St. Francis Medical Center. The shooting was being investigated as a gang-related attack.
