WEEKEND TV : Horowitz: Fifteen Years of Fighting Back

The consumers’ pal, opera heroes, military bands, prostitutes and gangs will all raise their voices over the roar of the Indianapolis 500 this Memorial Day weekend.

“Fight Back With David Horowitz” celebrates the 15th anniversary of the consumer series today at 6:30 p.m. on Channel 4 with highlights from previous shows. Horowitz also will reflect on changes in the consumer marketplace during the past 15 years.

Luciano Pavarotti sings in a new production of Verdi’s “Masked Ball” as “Great Performances” closes its 18th season Sunday at 3 p.m. on Channel 28.

A different sort of music is on tap Sunday on PBS when E.G. Marshall hosts the “National Memorial Day Concert” at 4:30 p.m. (24)(50), 7:30 p.m. (28)(15). This special from the West Lawn of the White House marks the 50th anniversary of the USO and features the U.S. Army Chorus and the Marine Drum and Bugle Corp.

Prostitution in the Soviet Union is the subject of a BBC documentary, “Prostitutki,” airing Sunday at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on A&E.;

Meanwhile, Channel 9 looks at a social ill closer to home in “Luther’s Choice,” airing Sunday at 8 p.m. This “For Kids’ Sake Special” tells the true story of a former Philadelphia gang leader who rejected the world of violence and drugs and now dedicates his time trying to keep other youngsters from making the same mistakes.

And, in reaction to the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi, KCET Channel 28 airs “Life and Death of a Dynasty,” a chronicle of the ruling family of modern India, Sunday at 10 p.m.
