2nd Tulare County Supervisor Stricken With Cancer
A second Tulare County supervisor has been stricken with cancer, the county executive’s office announced Friday.
An operation was performed Thursday to remove a malignant tumor from the stomach of Bill Buckley, who represents the Porterville area. Buckley, 62, was listed in serious condition Friday at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Supervisor John Conway of Tulare died on Tuesday of cancer of the spine. He was 65.
Conway’s death and Buckley’s hospitalization will reduce the Board of Supervisors to three members for several weeks. Buckley is expected to be hospitalized for about 10 days and will be unable to return to the board for as long as six weeks, officials said.
