On a day when the top six players on the leaderboard did not make a bogey, Hal Sutton birdied No. 18 for a seven-under-par 64 Saturday and a one-shot lead over Billy Andrade and Greg Norman after three rounds of the Kemper Open at Potomac, Md.

Sutton, at 195, played well but could not shake Andrade and the rejuvenated Norman until his seven-foot birdie putt on the final hole.

Andrade enjoyed his second consecutive 64 and Norman had an eagle and five birdies en route to the same score and a 17-under 196 total.

Jeff Sluman also had a 64 for a 198. Bobby Wadkins (65) and Bill Britton (66) were at 200 after three trips over the 6,904-yard TPC at Avenel course.

“I played well and didn’t pick up any ground,” Sluman said. “I’d prefer to play under tougher conditions.”

Charles Coody and Don Bies each shot course-record eight-under-par 62s and Coody took a one-stroke lead with one round to play in the Senior Tour event at the Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Scarborough-on-Hudson, N.Y.

Coody, 53, a two-time winner on the Senior Tour, had two eagles, seven birdies and one bogey for his 128 total for two trips around the 6,545-yard course.

Bies, 53, played bogeyless golf with eight birdies and was one stroke back after breaking 70 only once in his first nine tournaments this year.

Bruce Crampton had a 66 to move into third place at 131, one stroke better than defending champion Lee Trevino, Walt Zembriski and Bob Charles.

Colleen Walker got off to a slow start, but birdied 16 and 17 to take a two-shot lead over Beth Daniel after three rounds of the LPGA Rochester (N.Y.) International.

Walker, who has not won a tournament this year, was one over after nine holes, but made four birdies on the back for a three-under-par 69. She is at 206 after three rounds on the 6,162-yard Locust Hill Country Club course.

Daniel, last year’s LPGA player of the year, shot a 71 and was followed by Pat Bradley, a two-time winner of the Rochester tournament, and Trish Johnson of Wales, each at 209.

Seve Ballesteros stretched his lead in the British Masters to seven strokes by shooting a four-under-par 68 in the third round at Woburn, England.

The nearest challenger to Ballesteros, who has a 54-hole total of 200, is Irishman Eamon Darcy, who eagled the final hole for a 71.
