Powdered Clay Falls Off Truck, Closing Freeway
Bags of powdered clay fell off a truck on the Antelope Valley Freeway in Canyon Country Thursday, shutting down the freeway for more than an hour as workers cleaned up the dusty mess, CHP officials said.
The bags tumbled off the truck about 9:50 a.m. at Shadow Pines Boulevard, officials said. Passing cars stirred up dust clouds that severely reduced visibility. No motorists were injured.
The California Highway Patrol closed all southbound lanes, causing a three-mile backup to Agua Dulce Canyon Road. The freeway was reopened shortly after 11 a.m., officials said.
