A 72-year-old San Diego man drove his car into San Diego Bay on Thursday evening and was rescued by police divers, Harbor Police said.

Abraham Hyman, suffering chest pains, loss of breath and dizziness, got his foot stuck on his car’s accelerator as he drove along the 1300 block of Harbor Drive and went into the water just south of Anthony’s Restaurant at 5:23 p.m., Harbor Police Sgt. Dave Garrity said.

A tourist dived into the water, trying to rescue Hyman. Harbor Police divers retrieved both men from the water. Hyman was treated by paramedics and taken to UC San Diego Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition.
