Architect on Planning Commission Resigns

Santa Monica architect William R. Christopher resigned from his seat on the Los Angeles Planning Commission board Tuesday and was replaced by a real estate consultant who the mayor’s office said will help “reflect today’s reality in terms of spreading planning and economic development to those communities most in need.”

Christopher submitted his resignation in a brief letter to the mayor and was not available for comment. The letter gives no indication as to why he left the commission.

The mayor’s appointee, Lydia Kennard, founder of KDG Development Consulting Firm, has 10 years of developing experience in the Southeast and South-Central areas of the city. Her firm has also provided financial analysis for several city and county redevelopment projects, said the mayor’s spokesman, Bill Chandler.
